Simple question really but, can I connect my MIO p350 to my PC to use it as a GPS receiver eg the PC map will show my location on the on screen map, the MIO is connected via a usb and has a healthy satt signal showing the location on the device, I have tried various settings but get the cannot connect error on the PC. Thanks.

Hi,

No, AFAIK it's not possible easily.

I believe it is possible by using a program called GPSgate, installed on both the PC and Mio, but each needs a license, so it's not cheap (unless anyone knows of a similar share/freeware application).

Cheers, Alan.

Thanks for that Alan, its not vital just an option that could be useful to say use the set up from the back of the car, I can still use the Mio and glasses attachment ! Richard.

A better option might be a USB puck-style GPS which you can buy for around $35 (not sure of prices in the UK).

Give this freeware a quick try. The first thing it does after starting up is scan your COM ports looking for a NMEA signal, although you will have to set the baud rate yourself.

Thanks, tried that but it does not seem to detect any signal at all, worth a try though. Thanks to all.
