New MM user, 'search' function does not work on CAA chart.

After having so many hits searching the forum for help I went to Google which linked to a post from 8th Feb 2010.

Jason posted that the CAA charts are are not supplied with .MMI data because the CAA do not provide Placename data.

Is this still the case and if so is there any other way of enabling the search function in the CAA charts?

Thanks

Dave

You can download an OS 2012 1:50k mmi from here. It would be helpful if links to mmi files were included in the download centre page.

Hi,

If you have the 1:50k OS map then just load that and the placenames will persist when you switch to the CAA chart. Alternatively load the .MMI file using Search : Load database each time you view the chart.

A more permanent solution is to list the filename (without the .MMI extension) in the "Assocaited Data" field in Map : Edit Map Properties, or copy the file (into the same map folder) and give it the same name as the chart.

If you only want the placenames for each specific chart, create a closed route around each chart, display a map which has the placenames, right click on the route and : Operations : send enclosed... along a path to your hard drive. Delete the produced .QCT and .QED files and rename the .MMI to be the same as the corresponding chart as above.

Cheers, Alan.

Thanks Alan and Flyboy.

I downloaded the file using Flyboy's link and then edited the map properties as you suggested Alan, works a treat :-)
