There is a problem with the Find Place functionality on the iPhone version of Memory Map (works OK in the Windows Mobile version):

If you search on Aber, the following list is displayed:

Aber
Aber Village
Aber-banc
Aber-Cywarch
<blank line>
ABERAERON
Aberaman

I believe the <blank line> is being caused by a place name with an accented character - in this instance, Aber-Giâr.

Because of the problem, it is then not possible to type place names with accented characters into the find box and get any search results returned.

It would be good to see this annoying bug fixed in the next release of the app.

Two months and no acknowledgement of the problem by anyone from MM or any fix. . .

This has been corrected in the next release.

Dear USmmtech

Unfortunately this has not been fixed properly with the latest release (v1.5.3).

It is still not possible to enter accented characters into the search box and get a search list match.

Very disappointing as the bug was mentioned in my original post.

It would appear that my previous post regarding searching on accented characters remaining unfixed in v1.5.4 was deleted.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, it still does not work in v1.5.5

I really do not really understand why you would choose to delete posts rather than fix the problem. Simply ignoring the problem won't make it go away.

Unfortunately, I am left with no other option apart from reposting my one star review on iTunes for each new update where the bug remains unfixed.

I have no idea why your post would have been deleted, but I am looking into this. It was my understanding this had been corrected.

Thank you very much.

Unfortunately, all that was fixed was displaying accented characters in the initial search list. It is still not possible to enter accented characters as part of the search and return a match.

Just a very quick (if unrealistic) example:

In the 'Find Place' search box, enter 'A Bhàd' which should match the second entry in the list (A Bhàd, N Eil) - assuming UK place names are being used.

However, the minute any accented characters are entered, the search list empties.

Thanks for your help.
