Hi,

You really need to be much more specific about the type/model of your current and new Hand Held Device. Windows, Adventurer, Android, iPad, etc.? Sometimes you can "migrate" the license, others need a new license.

Cheers, Alan.

The original device is an apv m3100 mobile phone. the new device is a Navman Pin 570.
Both are running Windows mobile. The mobile phone has memory map stored on a small memory card, the Navman has a much larger ssd card.

As a Windows Mobile 2003 device, Memory Map should work fine on the Navman. In the desktop version of MM, Help > Topics > Pocket Navigator tells you all you need to know about setting up MM on the Navman.

If you want to use the same chart on the Navman as on the m3100, you will need to migrate the chart licence from the m3100 to the Navman through Help > Licence Management > Online Info > Migrate Licence on the desktop. This is an irrevocable step & you will no longer be able to install new charts on the m3100.*

If you want to test it first without migrating a licence, send a portion of a (free) basemap to the Navman.

* But it will not delete the chart or software from the m3100.

Hi,

That's an excellent, comprehensive reply from flyboy. But if you're still using an old v.5.1.3 (or earlier) version of MM with .QCT file format maps, then the migration process shouldn't be necessary.

Cheers, Alan.

Correct, again, Alan. Even with the newer version, however, he should have two activations for a mobile device, so he should be able to activate on the new device without losing cabability on the old device.
