I am trying to use my 3500 in Switzerland using a map I have scanned and calibrated. The 3500 gets a good fix, it displays my current postion but does not show the track which has been followed. I have deleted the map on the GPS, reentered it after using the Route functions in the PC Memory map - that is, drawing a route line around the map etc and sending the map back to the unit. Any ideas please - currently on holiday and getting virtually no use from the 3500. I accept that the accuracy of any plot will not be perfect due to scanning errors etc, but I did expect to see a track of my past postion.

I wonder if there are any issues with the recent upgrade I carried out? I believe this fixed various things eg, the vector arrow - do I need to reinstall the upgrade?

Any ideas please?

Regards

Hi,

Are you sure that the scale of your scanned map is sufficiently large to display the track as a visible line of pixels?

Otherwise, the first thing to check is that the properties of the current track (i.e. the one with active ticked) has suitable values for the minimum update time and distance, and maximum number of points. Also, try changing its colour.

Cheers, Alan.

Hi Alan, THanks, the issu was indeed the Track Properties. I had previously changed the distance to enable the joining of two tracks. The default value was 15M, I added a couple of zeros to do the join. Subsequently I did not restore to its previous value. Having finally done this all was well.

I still wish that there was a more comprehensive guide to menu functions rather than learning the hard way!

Thanks again for your suggestion
