I have version 5.4.2 build 1089.

I tried to create my own icon, 1st 2 attempts failed with a warning saying icon was not 32x32 & 26-color but 3rd one worked without a warning messeage.

That said, the icon still is not visible (must have not worked) & whenever I open Memory map I get 3 pop ups, one after the other, each saying :
"Bitmapfile for icon must be 32x32 pixels, 16-colors, uncompressed"

Even worse, I can't see any of the icons to remove them. How do I see & then clear the defective icons to stop getting the pop ups?

Thanks

olaeblue,

I created some icons a while ago. After an abortive attempt to borrow some icons from another program (which netted similar messages to you) I went for simplicity and used Paint to create a 32 x 32 block and saved it as a 16 color bit map (.bmp). Tedious to create but I did one as Black on white and that worked so I progressed to using colour! I was after creating red and green marine buoys - the default ones in Memory Map have the colours transposed for the buoy shapes. They are OK for the US but most of the rest of the world have red cans and green cones.

I can't remember how I cleared the error messages - I think I just deleted the .bmp files which didn't work but I think yours have got into wherever MM keeps its converted icons. There's no obvious icon file that I can see. I would therefore guess that they are kept in an overlay file. Over to MM Support I think!

olaeblue,

In Memory-Map if you go to OVERLAY > ICONS you will see a list of icons that you can browse through. Find the icons that were imported but not working, and then delete them.

Thanks

If I go to ovelay > Icons I can see the list below "Remove" but the icons are not in the list so I can't delete them :?
How else do I access the icon list to delete the defective icons?

Perhaps remove some of the icons that you wont ever use. This will allow the list to continue populating

Thanks

Thanks, That worked, but bit odd to find there are a load of icons not shown & not useable but still 'hiding' in the list. For next version any chance of a way to see all icons & delete multiple icons at one go please? :)
