I am interested in the 2012 updates as per the MM email. The existing OS 1:50,000 maps were bought as part of the purchased bundle and are "locked" to the SDHC card, does the update overwrite the existing files on the card maintaining licence validation or is there some other way in which the update is carried out?

ChrisJohn,

The update is supplied to customers on DVD.
Once received, delete the OS50K files from the MicroSD card and copy the OS50 map files from the DVD onto the MicroSD card.
Licence the OS 50K 2012 map as prompted.

The new OS 50K 2012 product is supplied in QC3 format so the whole map will transfer in 1 section.

Thanks

'Licence the new map, as prompted'.

Does this mean we can use the OS50K update to transfer our licence to a new, larger SD card?

Your mail, 'sort of' implies this.

ceres,

The 2012 OS map data provides the user with a total of 5 device activations.
So yes, you could use a larger MicroSD card if you wanted.

Thanks

Hi,

That's good news but are "activations" the same as "licenses". I understand that it's possible to "migrate" the software (e.g. a "Navigator" License) from one PC to another, but may one also migrate the map data in the event of hardware failure or renewal (i.e. without using up another "activation")?

Cheers, Alan.

Yes, you would be able to migrate the activation should you need to replace a device.

Does this mean I will be able to copy the new update onto a larger card in my Adventurer 2800. I purchased the edition with just the national parks as I already owned the whole of the UK at 1:50

Hi

So if I use the larger micro SD that I use for my IGN maps I can copy the OS 2012 maps onto that card? If so how do I transfer(migrate?) the OS 1:25000 maps onto the larger SD card? I presume just using the migration application on the web-site?

Thanks

John

I have loaded maps onto micro SDcard and activated the licence using the licence option on my PC programme. Showed as having been activated, but did not work. So went onto the web and tried to do it by putting the card in my PC. The card is now no longer read by my Adventurer 2800. How do I get it working again.

Hope you can help. For your information:

If I put the card in my Adventurer 2800 I using USB Mass Storage I have the following Folders (ASIMAP, NANDFlash,) and files (serial.int,touch.ini).

If I put my card in mu PC I get the following folders (ASIMAP, MAPS,Memory Map,Memory-Map-Licence, Pictures, Userdata) and files (maplist.mmo, serialnum.mmcid).

Many thanks

John
