Great news! But....... are we seriously expected to return our units???!!! Come on surely there must be a way to apply the update via an update link. This is a joke!

g0bmh,

If you do not want to return your unit, you will need to wait a couple of weeks until the downloadable update is ready.

Thanks

Jason

Congratulations to all.

Can I ask for a description of the user update procedure? Is this likely to be a simple thing to do with a low degree of risk to 'brick' the 3500?

If its easy, I'll hang on for the self-update. But if its likely to be a complex procedure, I'll be pleased to send my unit and let Memory Map do it.

Thanks

Ceres

ceres,

To be honest I dont know how the download update will apply itself, as I have only seen and used the manual update procedure.
However if the manual update is anything to go on, it should be very easy.

Thanks

Jason,

Any chance that the manual procedure can be released for those customers who are confident enough to carry it out? Assuming of course that there's little chance of bricking the unit.

Cheers,

g0bmh,

I am afraid not.
My head would roll, if I supplied the update in its current state for customers to do themselves.

Thanks

Keen to get the update before planned trip 3rd June as I miss the features after the 2800. Who should I ask about sending my unit back? Or is the quoted 2 weeks nearly up and we have a firm date for online updating?

Andy, I've copied in the instructions I used below. The turn around was within a couple of days and reading other posts, everyone so far has reported the same so would expect you to get your unit back in time. Good luck.

To upgrade your GPS:
1.Email support@memory-map.co.uk and request a Returns Authorisation Number stating you require an ADV3500 firmware update
2.Memory-Map Support will email your returns number to you along with a returns form to complete
3.Complete the returns form and enclose with your GPS to the Repair Centre address shown on the form – DO NOT SEND BACK TO THE SALES OFFICE
4.Your GPS will be updated and returned to you within 7-10 days free of charge.

Thanks pagsuk,

I have emailed them and certainly my experience before with their returns service has been good.
