I bought a 3500 last September to replace a 2800, which after 18 months had developed an unrepairable fault. At first I found the touch screen of the 3500 far too sensitive. Brush against a jacket and the map slides to the next county, sometimes plus a menu of some sort. However I learned to live with this and generally liked the device.

Now, though, less than a year old, the opposite has developed. The lower half of the screen often does not respond at all to the perspex stylus, if it does, it jumps uncontrollably. The start button often takes 10 or more attempts to get it to reach the ON position. It drags part way and jumps back. The '+' and '-' (especially) zoom buttons often do not respond at all. The top half does seem to function correctly, however. The issue is erratic, for occasionally, the device will perform perfectly, but I am rapidly losing confidence in it, as well as patience and feel I need to look at other solutions.

Is this a common problem?

Thanks spooneygreen, it now seems to be ok, though as I originally posted the problem is erratic.

If it happens again within the warranty, I'll return it.
