On Tuesday, I sent in a question re my 3500 just switching off on me and then even after charging it tells me I have a serious error, I took the card in and out as previously advised by Jason, and managed to get it in the end to down load a track and for the gps section to work. However when I tried to change the route colour, yet again it went into malfunction and seized up. On Wednesday I used it to track a walk and towards the end it went blank. On both these recent walks I have been out for about 7 hours, so I am convinced it is probably the battery running out, although other users seem to think it should last this long. I used to have a 2800, yes the battery went down, but I had a back up unit I could put on and it wont fit the 3500. Also the old gps never went into serious malfunction mode. So please I would like a serious answer on how these problems can be overcome, the fact it comes up with information stating it has not shut down properly, serious error and then the screen just jams up is extremely frustrating. Its less than a year old replacement, guarantee is valid. It was bought directly from you.

SHERBORNES,

Can you tell us the exact error message?

Depending on your back light settings and screen settings 7 hours sounds about right for the ADV 3500 battery.
If you are concerned about the battery running out whilst you are 'off in the hills' perhaps look into an external portable power source such as a Power Monkey or similiar.

Thanks
