I have read the details for the new update for ipad/iphone.

In the past it used to state quite clearly that V5 maps were supported.

I notice that this statement has disappeared.

Could I have a straight answer. Will the new update still support old V5 maps?

Thanks

CJ

Hi,

The problem is that "v5 maps" covers a multitude of sins. AFAIK they're certainly "supported" but you may need additional licenses to use them.

If the maps were not downloaded from the Digital Map Shop then I believe you (now) need the "Classic Maps" license. However, the v5 PC software can also import/calibrate non-Memory-Map maps (which may still have a .QCT file name extension). If you have done this yourself then you should already have the necessary "Navigator" license, but if you have obtained the maps from elsewhere then you may also need the "Import 3rd Party Maps" license.

There are many recent threads on this forum discussing these licenses.

Cheers, Alan

The paid version of the iPhone/iPad app includes "Classic map" compatibility, and has always worked with genuine Memory-Map "V5" maps.

A small number of people are having unexpected problems with the "Import Maps" license. However, we believe the software is correctly identifying these maps as third party maps.

If you go to MAP > EDIT MAP PROPERTIES and look under the COPYRIGHT field, it should have an OS copyright. If not, it is not our map. Also, if you look under the original file name and is it a PNG or TIFF file, it is a third party map.
