Screen response very slow and jerky, slow to draw routes.

I agree. Nothing like how it works on the iphone. Glad it's not just me. Don't understand how MM will work on an ipad with no proper GPS anyway.

iPads with 3G have full gps. I use my iPad for planning routes, iPhone for The navigation, so accurate gps not necessary for me, but this poor scrolling makes the job very difficult.

The new ipad has a lot more pixels in the display, so displaying a raster map at that resolution is expected to be slower.

If you have a large number of routes, or routes with a large number of points on the display, that has a big effect on drawing speed. Save your data, then I suggest deleting all the overlays except the one you are working on.

I also have "the new iPad" and I'm finding that Memory Map is a LOT slower than on my 1st gen iPad.

Whilst the retina display on the latest iPad is four times the resolution of the older iPads, the new quad-core graphics processor should make up for that. My other apps all run a lot faster on the new iPad (cf my 1st gen iPad), so I think there must be a coding problem with the Memory Map app. Also, Memory Map does not appear to be using the extra resolution - maps on the new iPad look just like maps on the old iPad, whereas apps that use the full resolution of the retina display (e.g. the Maps app) look a LOT better.

I too think there is a coding problem. here is a short video comparing some map apps on the new iPad. starting with memory map, scrolling a large scale free OS map, then adding some waypoints, the same with view ranger, UK map, and London city tube map. No other app seems to have this problem.

Memory map on a new 3rd gen iPad (LTE/3G version with GPS) is slow to the point of being unusable. But worse, it's not actually using high resolution retina quality maps - the map quality in the current app is v. poor

I have the Lake District Explorer map on both MM and Viewranger and if you compare the two it's just embarrassing! Viewranger is very fast: scrolls and zooms instantly using actual high res maps. With MM the scrolling is horrible and jerky and the zooming is terrible. I have no routes or tracks loaded so that can't be causing this slow down. It really needs sorting!

I understand there may be a problem with coding for scrolling on the new iPad: it's something I've seen other app developers mention. However, it seems that some developers have found ways around it. I would also suggest that the zoom animation is causing problems. Until you find an alternative, please at least give the option to disable that animation. This would be an easy fix which would help user experience a lot.

Viewranger proves it can and does work really well on the new iPad. And you would hope that memory-map would want to keep up with a competitor! It would be better know that MM are at least taking it seriously rather than just saying that there are bigger images to deal with, which is clearly a cop-out.

To summarise: Map resolution, scrolling, disable zoom anim until devs find new solution. Please get it sorted, as MM was a lovely way to plan routes and use on car journeys.

Mm has always been a bit 'jerkier' than others like viewranger, I think the pixel count of the new iPad has bought it to a head.

Guys, we support your product, but you need to acknowledge this clear issue and tell us that you are working on a solution.

I have used MM since 2005. I have learnt to hide the track, not have too many waypoints etc... all to stop my pda grinding to a halt. I have no overlay whatsoever on my ipad and it is still jerky to the point of I don't want to use it. Comments made like Richards above just make you think, why not give Viewranger a go. I'd never heard of it before reading this post but now I think why not give it a go.
