I have just purchased the OS 2012 GB complete 1:50K mapping. I already had the whole country on my iphone, in the old style, with .mmi and .qct files (many separate sections of the country).

I have succeeded in putting a small area of the new mapping on my phone (.mmi and .qc3 files) as a test and now want to put the whole country on - I understand the max file size is 2mb. To do this I will need to delete the old style mapping to recover the space. I cannot find out how to do this!

From the phone app, I have selected some of the 1:50K maps and deleted them. These now no longer appear in the map list and cannot be accessed. However, they still appear in i-tunes as memory map file sharing documents and the space has not been freed up!

Please let me know how I can free up the space used by the old maps.

If you select them in iTunes and press DELETE on the keyboard, it will remove these items.
