Since the update to iOS5, a new version of MM and getting a new iPhone (sadly I can't work out which is at fault) every time I tried to view any of my old OS Explorer maps (from the old DVDs) I get a prompt to activate (saying "Activate the resource: import maps").

I've done the migrate account stuff within the app and via the website, but as these are old DVD maps there aren't any online licenses. The whole point of the paid version of MM was so that I could use my very expensive old maps from the DVDs.

Since I can press cancel and continue to use the map which it claims much be activated, I can only assume this is an (incredibly annoying and frustrating) bug.

If there is a workaround i'd appreciate the support, otherwise can this bug be fixed ASAP!

not a reply, but I haven'y updated to IOS5, but have now started to experience the same. VERY frustrating when navigating with my bike - what's changed and more importantly when will it be fixed ?

I have had the paid app for nearly a year - if I can't load my old maps then what's the point of buying the paid-for app ?

In Memory-Map on the PC, open the Map List, click on the map in question to highlight it, and let me know the details shown below the list. The "Original Filename" field (just above the "Delete Map" button in the Map List would also be interesting.

I am also having this problem, all of my old MM maps are now wanting to be activated on my iPad and my iPhone.

These were all working fine before the app update

Was this map published by Memory-Map in the UK? If so, the ".png" extension on the filename display tells me they forgot to do the factory setup that marks it as an own-brand map. The app thinks you imported a third party map, so that is why it is asking for the Import Map license. This is the same behaviour as the Memory-Map software on all other platforms. Previous versions of the iphone app did not check for imported maps, but this changed due to some code that we incorporated from the Android development.

I'm not sure how to help you... The easiest way out would be for you to buy the up to date map. I think there are discounts available for existing customers. And if you are still using the 2004 PC software, I think you will find the upgrade is well worth it!

I believe they are UK maps, I have a ton of these old maps that my late father left on his PC, I use them on the iPad to plan routes, a I like to plan while away on hols, and download the new map to the iPhone, as they are up to date. The iPhone is to small to plan, the iPad too big to walk with. I cannot afford to buy them all twice. I already wasted a fortune with Anquet, viewranger and route buddy while settling on the the best app, memory map.

Some questions

1. Am i right in saying that if i buy a map on the iPad, i cannot use that on the iPhone without transferring the licence?
2. I have bought several maps twice already from memory map, on the iPad, and the iPhone. I keep upgrading my apple stuff, and have transferred all of my licences to the new iPhone. Is there anyway to get credit for the duplicates, or move them back to the iPad?
3. If I buy the import licence on the iPad, will that work with the old maps? the order info does not mention the iPad/phone
4. Longshot, is there a bit of hex I can change in the map files to make the issue go away?

These are NOT maps produced by Memory-Map UK. There is not a single OS map that we have produced that will require the 'Import Maps' licence
Memory-Map have never produced OS mapping by sheet number nor have we ever supplied OS mapping in .PNG format.

Please be aware that these maps most likely will have been originally from an illegal source and as such I am very sorry but we cannot offer you any assistance for these maps.
