I've just bought my Adv7000 and am pleased with it so far.Finding my way around it by trial & error as hindered by lack of detailed instruction manual. It's pretty intuitive however. One thing I can`t figure out is the `find place` function. Mine doesn't seem to do anything. Advice on how to get it working would be appreciated. Thx.

Hi,

I haven't used the 7000 but AFAIK all MM software uses a .MMI placenames index file with the same name (and in the same folder) as the .QCT/.QC3 map file. The Digital Map Shop does not automatically download the relevant .MMI and .QED (Elevation Data) files so these have to be found and loaded separately.

As you haven't said which maps you're using I can't give much more information, but a search for MMI in this forum may help. Note that the OS GB placenames file contains (only) features from the 1:50k (Landranger) mapping.

Cheers, Alan.
