I've got an A2800 with the National Parks Mapping. Is there any way I can extend those maps so that I don't have to change maps whenever I cross the boundary or plan a route on the PC?

Hi Ian,

Do you have the same maps on your PC? Do the (large) map files have a .QCT or .QC3 extension?

Basically, .QCT files can be merged on a PC and copied to a mobile device (with some restrictions), .QC3 files can only be extended by downloading from the "Digital Map Shop".

Cheers, Alan.

Hi Alan

They're all .QC3 files. I can select a mapping area I want to download from the OS50K series, but there doesn't appear to be any option to add it to the National Park map rather than my other 50K map.

Cheers

Hi Ian,

Then I doubt if anything can be done - it's the reason I've tried to steer clear of the .QC3 map format. I have managed a few "tricks" with the (free) OS Streetview maps in .QC3 format, but you would probably also need a (more expensive) Navigator license to "play" with the map boundaries.

You could try renaming the parks map files (keep a backup of course) to be the same as the DMS-GB set, but the main reason for the existence of the .QC3 format is the license management! :(

Cheers, Alan.

Hi Alan

It was worth a try, but sadly it doesn't work - the files have some sort of internal identifier. One of the reasons I bought MM was to avoid having to buy multiple maps when I'm crossing map boundaries and now, living on the edge of the South Downs, I've hit the same problem!! In fairness, it's not a huge problem, but I still feel I'm having to pay for MM's shortcomings.

Cheers
