It would be really useful if the track logging feature on the Adv 3500 or any Adv GPS would only log tracks when user needed it done. I am spending a lot of time deleting useless track logs generated as soon as I turn on my unit, Adv 3500.

I agree. This has been implemented in the Android version, a simple button in a pull-down menu to start or stop logging.

Another related feature which exists in the Android version is that the tracks are given unique names (T1, T2, ...) and in the index list for each overlay type (Marks, Routes, Tracks) each item is shown with its start date and time, distance covered and elapsed time. Like you I end up with many fragments of unwanted track which need to be deleted and sadly they are all called "Track". Like you I would like to see this stuff implemented on the 3500 and I doubt whether there is any reason for not doing it.

Alter the minimum update time to a very large number and you will find you loose the auto trail logging
