Absolutely, i'm nothing to do with MM other than i've used it for several years. I'd assumed that was fairly obvious from my posts.

I do however really appreciate having a support forum which staff actually read (very rare these days), so try to "fend off" some of the silly requests in the hope you (MM staff) don't get sick of answering the same questions again and again and stop supporting the forums.

Note that i don't actuallt think that wanting a Mac version is silly, in fact i'd like such a version myself, but i'm sensible enough to recognise that MM has limited resources and the fact that 4 people have asked for a Mac version doesn't mean it'll be available tomorrow, particularly as i'd like a few updates to the iOS version (toggle routes on/off please :D ), lots of people are shouting for android versions, there are always quesrions about the Windows version, and now here people asking for a Mac version.

I can only assume that we will be very lucky to see a version for Mac OS. I first asked this question in March 2008 when I bought my first Mac.

Like others on this thread I only run VMWare on my Mac to run MemoryMap.

Well, Memory Map looked promising. However, I'm not prepared to pay upwards of £100 extra to buy Windows and Parallels just so that I can run it.

I guess one of Memory Map's competitors, such as Anquet, can have my money instead.

I suspect that if a Mac version were created it would need a great deal of work before it could be sold via the App store for instance. Mostly on UX / ease of use. Mac tend to insist on consistency in UI appraoch etc.

The memory map UI has remained almost unchanged for many years now and although it needs a makeover on windows it would need a total rewrite to reach mac ease of use.

I too requested a Mac version 4 years or so back, so it is not exactly expecting anything 'by the end of the week' as an earlier user posted, by the end of the last decade would have been nice.

As they say, the fastest way backwards in the world of technology is to stand still. MM still have a fantastic foundation, but others are overtaking.

Sorry, but the MM level of UI would have perhaps impressed in 2005, but in 2011 in the age of the touchscreen smartphone?

I have to switch to W7 under bootcamp to use MM, and every time it (the UI and clunkiness of transfer for maps routes etc) drives me insane. I have just tried to move a route to my iPhone, but although the connection is fine the MM server is apparently too busy, so, ho hum, I will end up using my iPhone as a GPS and a paper map.

I've been regularly emailing the sales department of MM enquiring about plans for a mac version and I've always had the response: "No."

Like many others I too run VMWare on my Mac purely to run Memory Map. As a regular contributor to outdoor magazines, I regularly use the software and having to boot Windows in another window, whilst straightforward, is far more time consuming than having a native app.

It would be really useful if someone from MM could answer whether there are any real plans for a Mac version in the near future. Did I get excited unnecessarily when you launched the iPhone and iPad versions? (both of which I have)

The recent improvements to RouteBuddy suggest that MM may now have a serious competitor for Mac users (and PCs too), so I'm seriously considering whether the time has come to ditch MM. If someone from MM would say there'd be a mac version by the end of 2012 then I'm prepared to hang on ... but ...

As you can see from this thread, some loyal Memory Map customers have been waiting for a very, very long time. It's time for me to buy updated maps, so will I be spending my money with MM or Routebuddy?

Thanks.

Hi all
agree it's about time mm played ball and supported the mac

however if your not fussed with 3d there is a way to run mm direct on your mac without windows. the piece of software you need is a version of WINE called crossover link below

http://www.codeweavers.com/products/

cheapest version is £25, very easy to use

screenshot can be seen here

Thanks smy13, I tried the Codeweavers Crossover thingy, but couldn't get it to work properly. The instructions on how to set up a programme without a 'CrossTie' as they call it, are poor. Every time I tried starting Memory Map, it kept crashing and then rebuilding and repairing Memory Map. It's not a good user experience for me, which is a shame. This only convinces me now that I want a native Memory Map OS X application, or I consider selecting a new map provider.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

So, Memory Map. Please, please, please, please give us a native OS X version. What have we Apple customers done to upset you?
