just updated my galaxy s2 to 4.04 from 4.03. I had to do a factory reset for a variety of reasons. reinstalled android app and copied maps over. signed in when asked but had to do another activation on the device. This means I have used 2 activations on one device and I do not want to do that. Is there any way of sorting this?

If you had to use a second activation, it means the system sees the device as a "new" device (due to the OS upgrade). If you look in your account, it should show two devices (possibly with the same name). If you buy a new device, you should be able to migrate the licenses from the "old" phone to the new device and still be able to use on this device.
