Hi, I was trying to get fairly old (2004) Memory Map on an iPaq 3870 (PPC 2003) to work with a Vodafone bluetooth GPS unit (model VODA) but am getting BT connection problems. The GPS unit works fine with a Nokia 2730 phone and seems to be a generic NMEA unit, 115200 bps, BT 2.0 class II in the spec.

The iPaq pairs with the GPS unit OK and MM finds the BT com port (#8) but then times out and gets no data. Some older GPS units eg BT-318 are recommended for this iPaq so is it a BT ver. 2 problem or the age of the MM software ?

First thing to try is dropping the baud rate because 115.2k is unusually high. "Real" NMEA is 4800 baud but the rate is only "notional" with BlueTooth comms.

Also MM doesn't "look for" GPS ports (so it won't "find" one as such), you have to set it correctly for the OUTGOING port!

Thanks, I finally got this iPaq going with Voda GPS unit, fairly reliably, but have to use 115,200 baud on COM Port 5 (not the expected port). I don't think the iPaq/Memory Map has the capability of adjusting the baud rate - may be wrong. My Win XP desktop + BlueSoleil bluetooth dongle also works OK and at the same baud rate.
