After many years with a Legend HCx I've upgraded to an Extrex 20. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work with Memory Map OS Edition 2004, which is quite a blow. The error is "Unknown Garmin: No error".
Is there any way around this? I use MM all the time to upload and download routes, tracks and waypoints. The version is 4.4.3 Build 565. I know that is quite old but it's still perfectly useful for my purposes and I certainly can't afford to upgrade. The GPSr seems fine on MM European Edition, but I can't even transfer tracks from that software to the OS Edition.

Thanks for the suggestion...
I should say that I can find long-winded ways around the problem, but I really just want to upload and download direct from MM, not have to mess about with intermediate files. I'm hoping for a cure to the problem where the GPSr doesn't seem to be recognised.

The device is not recognized by the old software because the Garmin protocol used by that device did not exist when the software was released.

I suspected so...and it goes without saying that there's no chance of a patch.

I must say that I've stopped buying expensive software in general, because after a couple of years support tails off and there's a danger that it becomes useless. Hence not having a more up-to-date MM. Not Memory Map's fault in particular, it's just a failing of software support.

The software has been updated and does support this device, just not the 2004 version.

I think you mean that I could buy MM OS Edition again, but a later version...

As I said, I also have the European Edition which does support the Etrex 20, but I have the 2004 OS version and you'd hardly expect me to update that by buying another OS Edition. I'll move to an alternative solution. Thanks for clarifying.
