I copied the files(3) of Southern Scotland, v5 region5, from my PC to a memory stick, then on to my Laptop. The map on my PC is over 500MB but is just over 300MB on my Laptop. Why is this? It means that I could download the whole map to my A2800 instead of just an area.

Which map files (name and extension) did you copy and how (e.g. within MM or using Windows Explorer)?

You've obviously done something "wrong" because files can't just reduce in size (without some loss of data).

Thanks Alan. You prompted me to delve deeper and I seem to have backed up the maps that I downloaded to my A2800 and was copying from that file. Now copied from c:\maps_v5\os50\... and everything seems to be ok.
