Newbie Q. How do i install and use QED files?

Have downloaded a couple and placed them in my map folder but I can't see them listed in my maps. How do I access the information they contain?

Hi,

.QED files contain Elevation Data in a proprietary format. Generally, they are only used/useful with map files (.QCT/.QC3 extensions) having exactly the same filename (and in the same folder). They allow MM to report elevations within the map, show elevation profiles and the 3D-View.

Actually, although there are specific QED files for some maps, a QED file of a given area can be used with any map covering that area. To open a QED file manually, go to MAP > ELEVATION DATA and select the QED file you want.
