Are there any alternatives to the white background colour? I'm now converting a large number of maps and many have white areas that blend in with the white background, making it difficult to pinpoint the corners when calibrating. A darker background colour would make this task a lot easier.

Cheers

At this time, there is no way to change that color.

OK, but I think it's something that should be seriously considered, as it would make map calibration a lot easier, especially when creating a Boundary Route. Also, it would be very nice if in the Refresh Map list, the Clear All Previously Loaded Maps check box could be made persistent; there are too many steps involved for some repetitive tasks that could be very easily streamlined. In fact, it would better if there was just a one step Refresh and Clear button in the Map List dialogue box. Another excellent feature would be an ability to create a Boundary Route (Box) automatically once you've selected your three/four calibration points, rather than having to draw a box and then select the option. It's an essential thing to do when calibrating maps, so it should be able to be automated upon completion of the calibration.

Hi,

In my experience it's moderately unusual for maps to have large areas of white, but in this case you might be able to pre-process the original image file to change the white to a more identifiable colour.

I thought it was. But I normally have it cleared as I certainly don't want MM (potentially) deleting all the maps whilst I'm calibrating or working with them.

I can't see how that could work. The "boundary" may have no relationship to the calibration points (particularly if there are only three). Control over the correct boundary can be vital for creating the appropriate search or placenames files or for merging maps.

Cheers, Alan.

I'm currently converting 280 x 1:25000 topographic maps to qct and there are a lot of corners that have white, which makes it very difficult to pick the corners accurately. I can use the .tab file from the ECW files to type in the corners, but that just slows down the process of calibration, as I have to open each .tab file associated with the converted ECW file. It also makes it even more difficult to create a boundary from Route, as you have to purely guess the corners.

I just wanted the Clear All to be persistent when checked (optional to check or not), it's not in the latest version. Again, while converting these 280 files, I need to clear the previous file before I start to convert the next one. Clearing the previous file doesn't delete what you've just converted.

There's no reason why a boundary couldn't be created automatically from the minimum three corner points required to calibrate a map image. I'm pretty sure OziExplorer, which I've been using to find the lat/long for each corner, does exactly this when calibrating maps. Without creating the boundary, the calibration is useless, as I found out.

These are but a few simple changes that would make map calibration so much faster. Memory Map is a great program, but it falls short on a few basic features that one would have expected to be available.

Cheers
