Hi. Can anybody out there help me???? Maps and females dont mix too well :-)

I have version 5 of Memory Maps and am missing the qed file on all maps to enable me to view it in 3D model with the exception of one. Does anybody know how I can obtain these for all my maps please?

Also, the one I can see in 3D mode the ground shakes a lot. Does anybody know if this is normal or not?

Thanks :?: :o :D

Hi,

You haven't said which maps you have that are missing their .QED files. But assuming that they're OSGB then a file for the whole UK can be downloaded from this thread.

Rename the file to have the same name as the .QCT map name, but post again if you need help cutting it into files to match the regional map areas.

Can't say that I use the 3D feature much, but under what circumstances does the "ground shake".

Cheers, Alan.

I have not seen or heard about the "shake" issue before. If you can pinpoint when this occurs, that would be helpful.

Regarding the QED files, there are a large number of map packages distributed by many different vendors, so it is hard to say where the file would be or what it is called. As a general rule, the file should be in the same folder to which the maps were originally installed. It will often be the same name as the map file, but to find if a certain QED file is associated with the map, go to MAP > EDIT MAP PROPERTIES and look in the ASSOCIATED DATA field. This will give you the name of the QED and / or MMI file used for the map. (QED is the elevation file. MMI is the placename database file.)

You can manually load a QED file by going to MAP > ELEVATION DATA and browsing for the file you want to use.

Thanks Alan

Your a star, I followed the thread and downloaded the file and it worked. This also resolved the shake issue.

Many Thanks

Julie :D
