Hi

I have loaded several of my own maps onto an ADV 3500, but when on location, I do not see my current position on them. Assuming my geo-referencing is correct is there anything else I need to do / set?

Hi Keith,

Have you tapped the "Padlock" button?

Does the "Data" popup box (on PC and Adventurer) actually show a position (and perhaps elevation) for the cursor? If not, you probably have a map calibration error.

Did you remember to use the "Route to Boundary" option after calibration? It shouldn't be necessary to show the GRs but is required to auto-load the correct maps.

Cheers, Alan.

If you have the maps currently on the PC, look at the map on the PC and see if it shows coordinates in the lower right corner, or something like this:

X=XXXXX, Y=XXXXXX

Alan, USmmtech - many thanks for your help - much appreciated. When I load the map in memory map on the PC, I do see X and Y co-ordinates. If I go to the top left of the map, it is 0,0. Does this help?

Alan - I don't think I did use 'Route to Boundary' - I'll go look for it and try to publish them to the satnav again. Guess I will have to recoordinate the maps to be in my local area as a test - my previous attempts were in Macedonia!

Hi Keith,

It sounds as if the map has not been correctly calibrated, perhaps you used "OK" during calibration rather than "Save Point" (3 times).

When you save the third calibration point, each point should have a "crosswire" surrounded by a red circle. It's usually worth using (at least) a fourth point to check how accurate the calibration has been. When you're happy, then you can use the "OK" to exit.

The full procedure is in the embedded Help file, search for "self scan maps".

Cheers, Alan.

Alan is correct. The X and Y indicate pixel locations on the image which means the georeference information is not recognized. Alan's directions are spot on.

Thanks again - could well be it. I'll give it another go and see how I get on. Will let you know. Your help and advice is much appreciated.

Still struggling with this ... I have followed the instructions and put co-ords on my map but still don't see current position on 3500. If I tap the padlock when my map is loaded a different map is loaded! Assume this means my co-odds are wrong but unsure how. Keith

Hi Keith,

Are the map files calibrated alright on your PC? i.e. Does the "Data Popup" (or lower RH corner of screen) show the correct Grid Reference (not just X-Y coordinates) at the cursor position?

Cheers, Alan.

Hi Alan

It does show the grid reference as I move across the map, but whilst this looks 'OK', I think one corner may be a bit out. Let me try again with a simpler map and get back to you.

Regards Keith
