Hello, I have 3 questions
a) Can anyone advise how I can split a long route into 2 or more smaller routes.
b) Similarly, can anyone advise how I can join 2 routes to make a single route.
c) and finally, how can I display the French grid and gridlines on the 1:25000 map
Any answers will be gratefully received. Thanks

There is no option to split a route, but you can convert the route to a track, split the route, then convert the two sections back to routes.

Right-click on the route.
Select OPERATIONS > CONVERT TO TRACK.
Right-click on the track at the point you want the split.
Select OPERATIONS > SPLIT TRACK.
Right-click on each section.
Select OPERATIONS > CONVERT TO ROUTE.

If you have knowledge of the PROJ.DAT system, you can create your own grid for display. It would show coordinates at the cursor, but would only show the gridlines when printed. You would have to create a DAT file and copy it to the MEMORY-MAP > NAVIGATOR > GRIDS folder. It would then show under MODE > POSITION FORMAT > OTHER GRIDS.

You can split & join tracks at waypoints. Use the right click menu to add waypoints & then convert to a track. Right click to split/join your tracks & then convert back to a route.

Hello,
Thanks to flyboy and USmmtech for the replies on splitting and joining routes.

I know nothing about Proj.Dat, so I think I'll give that a miss.

When converting the track back to a route, ensure that the Min. Update Distance is zero, otherwise you'll lose accuracy.

Hi,

You also lose any specific Waypoint names that you may have created.

Unless you have an enormous number of waypoints in the route(s), I would just create new route(s) using the existing waypoints. If you point the cursor accurately at each waypoint (the "data" popup will confirm) then MM uses the existing waypoints in the new route. Generally you can then delete the "old" route(s) if you wish.

However, MM can sometimes get rather "confused" if you save and then import individual routes or waypoints, particularly if they have been locked.

Cheers, Alan.

I spilt routes by converting the mmo file to gpx, using GPSBabel (free download), then editing the gpx file in Notepad, then converting back. It doesn't take long to understand the file structure of gpx. The mmo file is binary so would be difficult to edit directly.
